Noah Gabigogo

Noah is an International Human Rights Lawyer and Ford Foundation Global Fellow 2021.

Noah studied for a Master of Laws degree at Harvard Law School and where Noah explored issues of gender equality, including expanding accountability for state-sponsored violence based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression.

Noah will study for an MSc in African Studies at the University of Oxford. Noah hopes to research the history of gender diversity in East Africa. This work will extend the narrative of sexual and gender diversity in Eastern Africa by exploring historical concepts like Mudoko Dako- and other “alternative gender statuses” that enabled same-sex relations with no social sanctions.

Upon completing the MSc in African studies, Noah intends to complete a Doctoral research program on the same subject and to contribute to Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Expression Equality policy advisory work within international development.
