Introducing the 2019 AfOx Visiting Fellows

We are pleased to announce the 2019 cohort of the AfOx Visiting Fellowship Program. 20 distinguished African researchers from 12 African countries were selected from nearly 250 outstanding applications from 30 countries.

The Fellows will spend 4 to 8 weeks at the University of Oxford this summer, and will be hosted in our partner colleges and departments during their time in Oxford. Their research interests range from machine learning, numerical algorithms, political ecology, environmental musicology and radio astronomy.

In partnership with departments across the University, AfOx offered 5 fellowship schemes this year: The AfOx Collaborative Fellowship The AfOx TORCH Fellowship The AfOx-Law Fellowship The AfOx-ASC Fellowship The AfOx-Nekton Marine Science Fellowship   This year, AfOx is privileged to partner with Wolfson, St Cross, Hertford, Christ Church, St Edmund Hall, Brasenose, St Peter’s, Somerville, All Souls and Jesus Colleges to provide each fellow with accommodation and/or college affiliation.  

The AfOx Visiting Fellows Program was set up in 2017 to enable sustainable research collaborations between academics at the University of Oxford and African institutions. Academics working in any discipline in any African institution are eligible to apply for the Fellowship.
