Oxford Africa Conference 2017

With back-to-back keynote addresses from Graça Machel - renowned social and political activist, and Dr. Ibrahim Mayaki - Chief Executive Officer of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Planning and Coordinating Agency; Speeches by Donald Kaberuka - former president of the African Development Bank, Fred Swaniker - serial entrepreneur and founder of the African Leadership University and Josephine Ojiambo - Deputy Secretary General, Commonwealth secretariat among others; poetry performances by Princess Ashilokun and Upile Chisala, and engaging, incisive and enriching panel discussions, the 2017 Oxford Africa Conference surpassed expectations. In its seventh year running, the Oxford Africa Conference is the leading interdisciplinary conference on Africa, and unique in the genre of "Africa Conferences", it is organised entirely by a team of students. This year's organising team was led by Vivian Ojo - Masters in Public Policy at Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, Biruk Terrefe - MPhil Candidate at Oxford’s Department of International Development, and Kin Sophie Seong - MBA candidate at the Said Business School. The Conference provided a vibrant platform for new thinking about a global Africa across several disciplines. The Innovation Fair was won by Afya Tea, a startup which makes fortifying teas from Moringa in Cameroon
