We’ve seen first-hand the ingenuity & resourcefulness that has gone into fighting COVID-19 across Africa. The results, from PPE made of recycled PET bottles to contact tracing platforms, reinforce that it is innovation that holds the key to delivering a more accessible and effective healthcare into the future. By connecting and supporting innovators making a difference in their communities, we can build a network with the power to change the world for the better

“As a health care expert with limited business background, AfOx has given me the opportunity to learn new concepts and apply new skills. Throughout this journey, I have learned to explore business opportunities, develop entrepreneurial ideas and solutions, test them in the real world, adapt them and enter the market. These competencies are the stepping-stones I needed to advance my business idea.” Kahabi I.

“This not just a programme bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to embark on an intellectually stimulating exercise. It is a platform to connect learners, doers, innovators and entrepreneurs at different stages of their entrepreneurial journeys. It gave me access to a community of active learners with research and evidence-based experience that catalysed my learning and transformed me.” Harry A.

“Ordinarily, as innovators-entrepreneur, we tend to focus on the 'working hard' aspect of entrepreneurship and disregard other important factors that greatly influence business outcome. Thanks to AfOx Innovation and Entrepreneurship scheme, I now have the confidence to look at things from different perspectives, change any limiting mindset, and perceive conditions and events with greater clarity and deeper understanding.” Okumu O.

The innovation environment at Oxford has enabled Hutano Diagnostics to evolve from developing diagnostics for Africa, to applying our diagnostic platform for different diseases across the world. I am excited about the different collaboration opportunities that the AfOx Innovators will have, as well as the impact that their work will have on the continent.”
