Enoch Tumwine

MSc in Diplomatic Studies

Enoch Tumwine is a Burundian–Ugandan diplomatic studies scholar and youth advocate, currently pursuing an MSc in Diplomatic Studies at the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford. He is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar at the University of Oxford and a member of Kellogg College. Enoch is dedicated to global peacebuilding and youth empowerment across Africa and the wider world.

He holds a degree in Political Science and African Studies from the University of Toronto and completed further postgraduate study at the University of Oslo, where he focused on international security policy, nuclear weapons dynamics and North–South development relations. Enoch’s leadership experience spans several continents. He has served as a delegate at the United Nations in the United States and as an ambassador for the Institute of Peace and Economics. His work in human rights, global governance and sustainable development reflects his commitment to equality and justice.

Enoch is the Founder and President of African Rebirth, a youth-focused organisation advancing peace, unity and prosperity across the continent. Since 2021, the initiative has directly trained more than 3,000 young leaders from all 55 African states through virtual mentorship in leadership, diplomacy, entrepreneurship and peacebuilding, and has reached more than 2,000 young people in Burundi through community-based programmes. In 2022, he was named among the Top 100 Most Impactful People in the World by Hoinser Magazine. He also works as a Community Liaison Officer with the United Nations Association of Canada, promoting the Sustainable Development Goals within First Nations communities in Nunavut.

At Oxford, Enoch continues to develop his expertise in diplomacy and international relations. He aims to shape policy and build leadership structures that empower Africa’s youth and strengthen global cooperation.
