Abou Kebbeh

Postgraduate Diploma in Global Health Research

Abou Kebbeh is a biomedical scientist and field epidemiologist from The Gambia. He holds an MPhil in Applied Epidemiology and Disease Control and has completed the Advanced Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) at the University of Ghana. He is currently a Mastercard Foundation Scholar pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Health Research at the University of Oxford.

Over the years, he has worked across the clinical and laboratory sectors, conducting laboratory research, analyzing clinical samples, and contributing to disease surveillance and outbreak response. His professional career has included several research projects focused on infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance.

In addition to his research and clinical work, he serves as a mentor for the Gambia Field Epidemiology and Training Program, where he supervises and guides residents in disease outbreak investigations, surveillance system evaluations, and data analysis.

Research in Africa indicates that without effective intervention, approximately 4.1 million people could die from drug treatment failure by 2050. As someone living in one of the regions projected to be most affected, he is deeply committed to addressing this threat by advancing research and development that supports improved health and well-being among vulnerable populations.
