Amanda Opara is a Nigerian lawyer with over five years of experience in banking and finance transactions. She is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholar pursuing an MSc in Law and Finance at the Faculty of Law, University of Oxford. Amanda is a member of Wolfson College.

Before joining Oxford, Amanda was a senior associate at G. Elias, a leading business law firm in Nigeria, where she led the banking and finance practice. She has been recognized as a Rising Star in Banking by the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) 1000 in both 2022 and 2023. In 2024, Amanda was recognised by Legal 500 and the ESQ Nigerian Legal Awards for her contributions to banking, finance, and capital markets.

Amanda holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Nigeria, where she graduated in the top 2% of her class, and a First Class Honours from the Nigerian Law School.

After completing her studies at Oxford, Amanda aims to work with a global or African-focused development financial institution, contributing to development finance initiatives.
