Belusochi Joe-Ikechebelu

Mastercard Foundation scholar

MSc in Clinical Embryology, St Catherine's College

Nigeria

Belusochi Joe-Ikechebelu is pursuing an MSc in Clinical Embryology at the Nuffield Department of Women's & Reproductive Health, University of Oxford. She is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholar and a member of St Catherine’s College.

Belusochi has worked as a physician in both the public and private healthcare sectors, participating in medical outreach programmes. Her passion for preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) drives her to explore ways to make this technology more accessible, particularly in addressing genotype incompatibilities prevalent in African countries.

Belusochi graduated with honours from Babcock University, earning her MBBS degree as the top student in her cohort.

After completing her studies at Oxford, Belusochi aims to integrate her embryology knowledge with her background in neonatology. She aspires to contribute to a future where PGT is universally available and equitably accessible, particularly in underrepresented regions.
