Mastercard Foundation scholar

MSc Economic and Social History, Christ Church College

Mozambique

Fernando is a researcher whose main research interests lie in the fields of economics and international relations/political science. Fernando is studying for an MSc in Economic and Social History at the University of Oxford, a joint degree with the Department of Economics and the Faculty of History. He is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholar and a member of Christ Church.

Before starting his studies at the University of Oxford, Fernando completed internships at Eni S.p.A in Rome as a Public Policy Analyst and at the United Nations World Food Programme in Rome's Innovation and Knowledge Management Division.

Fernando graduated with distinction from LUISS Guido Carli University of Rome with a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics.

Following his studies at Oxford, Fernando's goal is to address challenges in his community and continent, such as economic stagnation, macroeconomic instability, underdevelopment, poverty, climate change, terrorism, insecurity and political instability. He plans to do this by joining International Non-Governmental Organisations or humanitarian organisations. He also plans to create his own NGO. Fernando envisions securing a research-oriented degree (DPhil/PhD) in either Economics or International Relations, with the intention of delving deeper into these issues.
