Mawadah Nofal, an art historian, multidisciplinary artist, and researcher from Egypt, is currently pursuing an MSc in Visual, Material, and Museum Anthropology at the School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography, University of Oxford. She is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholar and a member of Reuben College.
Mawadah recently graduated with first-class honours from the University of Essex, where she earned a BA in Art History, Visual Culture, and Media Studies. Her exceptional academic performance was recognized with the Art History Prize and the Art History Dissertation Prize. Additionally, she was awarded the Bishop McKinley Travel Grant, which supported her 2023 research project in Cairo. In the same year, she published a paper on the digital divide in the Essex Student Journal. Mawadah also attended the Ecole du Louvre summer school and founded the Warmblue Collective, a print zine for young Arab creatives.
After completing her studies at Oxford, Mawadah aims to work with museums and cultural institutions, advancing research and curation within the region.
