Mercy Masanga is pursuing an MSc in Energy Systems at the Department of Engineering, University of Oxford. She is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar and a member of Reuben College.

Mercy is a consultant specialising in energy and natural resources, with a focus on affordable and clean energy. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Geomatics from the University of Dar es Salaam's College of Engineering and Technology, where she conducted research on geothermal potential zones using remotely sensed data. Her research was showcased at the Tanzania Women Engineers Convention and Exhibition. She also made history as the first female chairperson of her college, leading more than 2,600 engineering students.

Mercy's public speaking and storytelling skills were demonstrated in her TEDx appearance, where she advocated for sustainable development. She was recognised as one of the 100 Tanzania Sheroes for her work as a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) ambassador, inspiring young people to pursue careers in science. Her dedication to energy development is evident in her published newsletters and her poetry book, available on Amazon.

Following her studies at Oxford, Mercy aims to drive innovations in clean energy infrastructure to improve climate security and establish an innovation hub in Africa to tackle energy and climate challenges.
