Moureen Caroline Ochieng is pursuing an MSc in Modelling for Global Health at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine, University of Oxford. She is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar and a member of Linacre College.

Before joining Oxford, Moureen was actively involved with the Infectious Diseases Epidemiology and Modelling Unit at Makerere University School of Public Health. She contributed to research projects on the dynamics of Influenza A transmission, the effects of rainfall and temperature on dengue fever transmission in Singapore, and the impact of malaria vaccination on malaria incidence in Bugiri District, Uganda.

Her journey began as a backend developer for a waste management project in Uganda, where she honed her skills in Python and data analysis. Since then, she has applied her expertise to time-series analyses on COVID-19 and prostate cancer datasets.

Following her studies at Oxford, Moureen is committed to using data science and mathematical modelling to understand and reduce malaria transmission in Uganda. She aims to contribute to infectious disease modelling and data science, while continuing to learn and share her knowledge with the wider community.
