Nada Gadalla Abdelrahman
Postgraduate Diploma in Global Health Research
Nada Abdelrahman is pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Health Research at the University of Oxford as a Mastercard Foundation Scholar. She is a Sudanese medical laboratory specialist with experience in teaching, research, and international collaborations.
Nada graduated with excellence from the Faculty of Medical Laboratory Sciences at the University of Khartoum, earning two academic prizes and ranking first in the Department of Parasitology and Medical Entomology. Her undergraduate thesis developed a citizen-science early-warning system for dengue outbreaks in Khartoum State, engaging schoolchildren in vector surveillance and health education.
She is the founder and director of the Parasite Initiative, a national network linking 43 Sudanese universities to provide mentorship, training, and educational resources in partnership with organisations such as the British Society for Parasitology, Parasites Without Borders, and the Federation of European Societies for Tropical Medicine and International Health.
In addition, she serves as Head of Administration and Operations at the Sudanese Society for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, where she advances governance, partnerships, and national capacity building. Despite the ongoing war, she continues to support higher education as a Teaching Assistant and offers weekly consultations for displaced undergraduates and graduates. Her recent research examines disparities in global health professional exchanges, where she led large-scale data compilation across Africa.
At Oxford, she looks forward to engaging with a diverse research community, learning from global health leaders, and strengthening her skills in research design and implementation. She hopes to translate these experiences into practical solutions that develop the next generation of African researchers and promote equitable global health collaborations.
