Nkpoikana-Abasi is an education advocate who works at the University of Calabar as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, specialising in gender and development. She is pursuing an MSc in Comparative and International Education at the University of Oxford. Nkpoikana is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholar and a member of Jesus College.

Nkpoikana-Abasi holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in History and International Studies from the University of Calabar, Nigeria. She graduated at the top of her class as the Best Student with  First Class Honors, earning her the Prof. Akoda Prize in 2018. Her passion lies in educating pregnant and mothering teenagers and displaced children.

Before attending Oxford, she worked with the D-NEO Foundation and Girls' Power Initiative (GPI), where she supported young people and teen mothers in Nigeria. Nkpoikana-Abasi is a member of the Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) and the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) in Nigeria.

After completing her studies at Oxford, Nkpoikana plans to establish a social organisation called "More Chances." The organisation will advocate for inclusive education for pregnant, mothering, and displaced teenagers in Nigeria. She hopes to contribute to the education sector in Nigeria by creating platforms for public engagement and research.
