Thandeka Margaret Dube

Thandeka Margaret Dube is pursuing an MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation, and Management at the School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford. She is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholar and a member of Linacre College.

Thandeka is an environmental enthusiast committed to exploring the critical role ecosystems play in human well-being and quality of life. She graduated with distinction from North West University (NWU), South Africa, with a BSc in Urban and Regional Planning. She was recognized as the Top Academic Achiever in Urban and Regional Planning and Geography and was invited to join the Golden Key International Honour Society. Her research experience includes collaborations with the Moqhaka Local Municipality on upgrading informal settlements and with the City of Johannesburg on designing Sustainable Human Settlements (SHS), with a focus on environmental responsibility.

In addition to her academic work, Thandeka volunteered as a tutor for Lifting Dreams, a non-profit organization empowering youth through education, and interned with the Town Planning Department at Bulawayo City Council in Zimbabwe. She also co-founded the "Potch Book Club" to encourage a love of literature among students.

After completing her MSc, Thandeka plans to further her research on conservation and sustainability, focusing on community-based development. Her long-term goals include pioneering Green Infrastructure technologies for food production and sustainable medicinal plant harvesting in Zimbabwe.
